One of the best things about radio is hearing a song you asked for come on, maybe with your name and a few words for someone you care about. On FnF.FM you can do exactly that, on any of our three stations. This guide shows you how to request a song on the radio at FnF.FM, what happens after you press send, and a few simple habits that give your request the best chance of being found and played.
How to request a song on the radio, step by step
- Open the Request page. Go to fnf.fm/request.
- Pick a station. Choose English, Bangla or Hindi. Your request goes to the station you pick, so choose the one that fits the song.
- Enter the artist. Type the name of the singer or band.
- Enter the song title. Type the title of the song you want to hear.
- Add a dedication, if you like. This is optional. A short message for a friend, a parent or a partner works well.
- Add your name, if you like. Also optional.
- Enter your email. The station's request system needs an email address to accept the request.
- Send it. Your request goes straight into that station's request queue.
What happens after you send a song request
Requested songs usually play within about 30 minutes. That is a typical time, not a fixed one, so it can be a little sooner or a little later depending on what is already in the queue.
If you do not want to keep watching the screen, switch on Alert me when it plays. You will get an alert when your song comes on, as long as FnF.FM is open on that device. If you close the app or the browser tab, the alert cannot reach you, so leave it open in the background.
Missed it anyway? The Recently played screen shows the songs each station played recently, so you can check whether your song has already been on. Our guide to finding a song you heard on the radio has more tips.
Tips for a song request that gets played
The request system has to match what you type with a real song. The clearer your request, the easier that is, and these habits make a real difference.
Use the exact song title
Type the song title as it is officially written, not a line from the chorus or a nickname. Many songs are known by a lyric that is not actually the title. If you are not sure, take a moment to look it up before you send the request.
Use the most common spelling
This matters a lot for Bangla and Hindi songs written in English letters. The same word can be spelled in several ways, for example with or without a double vowel, or with "w" instead of "v". Use the spelling you see most often on the song's official release or the most popular listing of it. The same goes for artist names.
One song at a time
Put one song in each request. If you write several titles in one box, the system cannot tell which one you mean. If you want to hear more than one song, send separate requests, and give each one a little time.
Pick the right station
A Hindi film song belongs on the Hindi station, and a Bangla song belongs on the Bangla station. Sending a request to the station that matches the music helps it land in the right queue. Our introduction to the English, Bangla and Hindi radio stations explains what each one is for.
Keep the artist field simple
Use the main artist's name. If a song has many featured singers, the lead name is usually enough. Extra names, brackets and notes in the artist field can make a match harder.
Keep radio dedications short and kind
A dedication is a lovely touch. Keep it short, friendly and suitable for a general audience. Think of it as a message you would be happy for anyone to hear.
A quick checklist
- Right station chosen
- Main artist name, spelled the common way
- Exact song title, not a lyric
- Only one song in the request
- Email entered
- Alert switched on and FnF.FM left open, if you want to be told when it plays
Why requests matter to us
Requests help keep FnF.FM personal. They tell us what our listeners want to hear, and they turn a stream of music into something shared. A song played for a birthday, a homecoming or a quiet evening far from family can mean a great deal, both to the person who asked and to everyone else listening.
