I can be inspired by almost any type of visual, and Pinterest is one of my favorite places to find visual inspiration. From design projects to websites to DIY projects, there is a little something for everyone on this virtual pinboard.
And designers are taking advantage of this tool in a major way.
It’s a great source of inspiration and a place where you can show off your work as well. Here is a collection of designers you should be following on Pinterest, and my favorite board from each.
Regardless of what you have heard or what you might think, Pinterest is not just for women. Just as many top male designers are using it too.

This collection of board showcases design and happiness. Filled with color and bold shapes and styles, these boards show designers how to go big and bold without fear. In addition to created design, the boards also showcase some excellent photography. (935 followers)

Joy Cho
Cho might just be one of the best-known designers on Pinterest and has a massive following. She has 84 boards and more than 10,000 pins in a variety of categories. What’s nice about the collection is that you can be inspired by boards and images that you may have never expected to. (13 million followers)
Favorite board: Fonts is a small collection of type but showcases a wide range of styles.

Mike D

Mike D
While these boards are more than just design, there’s a lot design-related stuff to peruse for hours. Mike D’s Typography and Badgography boards are especially nice for designers working on details. (3.6 million followers)
Favorite board: Identography showcase great banding and logo styles.

Dan Denney

Dan Denney
You can tell Denney is passionate about type and lettering from his board of a similar name. It contains more than 800 pins that make you want to design type. (5,600 followers)
Favorite board: Typography and Lettering Love really is an impressive collection of great lettering and logotypes.

Leah Dent

Leah Dent
I admit to first following Dent just for her bio: “It has been two days since I last used Futura Bold.” And I am glad I did. These boards are a collection of everything, topped off with a lot of great typography. (809,000 followers)
Favorite board: Letters and Numbers is filled with type, much of it with a feminine style.

Aaron De Simone

Aaron De Simone
More proof that design inspiration comes from places other than just websites. This collection features a little bit of everything as a great place to develop ideas. (2 million followers)

Bri Emery
“Where type and images totally make out” is the description for this collection. That alone is enough to inspire some new mashups when it comes to color, images and typography. (307,000 followers)

Oen Hammonds
Hammonds does a good job showing off his own design work in the My Work board. From finished projects to works in progress, you can get a glimpse of how the design comes together. There’s almost a theme to all of these boards, which seem to highlight simplicity in design and dark and muted colors. (235,000 followers)

Sarah Jones

Sarah Jones
A self-described art director and crafter with boards that combine both. What’s nice about this combination is that you can be inspired by both flat and three-dimensional design concepts. (2,000 followers)
Favorite board: Get Crafty contains so many great color and texture combinations that would make fantastic website backgrounds.

Derek Kimball

Derek Kimball
While many designers have some design-related and some unrelated boards, Kimball has a set of 34 boards that all relate to design. From print to color to logos to illustrations to photo, every board is a great source of inspiration. (310 followers)

Graham Smith
If you like logos, Smith’s Pinterest site is just for you. This collection of more than 1,000 pins organized in 15 boards is everything logo you can images. (9,000 followers)
Favorite board: Batman Logo Evolution is nothing but fun and shows how a simple logo has evolved over the years.

Chad Syme

Chad Syme
Syme has a neat collection of masculine-looking design, illustration, logos and type some of his boards. Some of the themes are darker than other collections. He also has a board devoted to UI Design with nearly 500 pins highlighting some great interfaces from all over the web. (649,000 followers)
Favorite board: UI Design is sometimes hard to “see” but this board helps you get a look at user experiences in new ways.
